UNIVERSITY SUPPORT PERSONNEL SYSTEM (USPS) |
To apply for a USPS position, please submit a completed
FAU Application for Employment form to the Personnel Services Employment Office by 5:00pm on the application deadline or postmarked by such date.
Applications are accepted only for positions currently listed, on or prior to the application deadline date, except for those listed as OPEN. Open posting positions are recruited continuously without an application deadline. An application may be submitted for an open vacancy at any time. Applications will be pre-screened and forwarded to the appropriate department based on the department's needs and the applicants' qualifications within
5 working days after the application deadline date. Open positions will be forwarded on a regular basis.
Typing tests are administered at the Employment Office from Monday through Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. If a position requires a typing test, a minimum score of at least 35 correct words per minute must be obtained before or on the posted deadline date.
Your application will be kept on file for up to one full year
form date of submission. If you wish to apply for one or more position(s), call the Employment Office and state: (1) your name, (2) that you have an application on file and (3) the position(s) of interest.

Applicants with education outside of the United States must present their original high school and/or college diplomas. Applicants living outside South Florida may send a copy; however, applicants must make arrangements with the Employment Office to bring in the original documents, if interviewed by a hiring department. Diplomas in a foreign language must be translated to English
and credentials evaluated by an accredited institution.
Selection for interviews will be determined at the discretion of the hiring supervisor and arranged through the hiring department.
ALL REGULARLY APPOINTED USPS EMPLOYEES SERVE A 6-MONTH PROBATIONARY PERIOD, EXCEPT FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS, WHO SERVE A 12-MONTH PROBATIONARY PERIOD. During this period, current USPS employees may not apply for a promotion, demotion, or reassignment outside their current department until permanent status in their current class has been attained. Permanent status in a class is attained when an employee completes the probationary period for the class with at least an "achieves" rating on a probationary review.
Current USPS employees who have attained permanent status in their current class and are interested in applying for open position(s), must submit a Current Employee Application to the Personnel Services Employment Office, Administration Building, Room
102. Current employees with recent disciplinary action (previous 6-12 months) or with a current performance appraisal with an overall rating of "Below Performance Standards", are not eligible to apply for vacant positions.
